Club Rugby Performer of the Week: Hemi Fermanis

This week’s Club Rugby Performer of the Week is Tawa lock Hemi Fermanis.

In two consecutive weeks, the Tawa Premiers have beaten Paremata-Plimmerton on the siren, and on both occasions have come back over the final few minutes to score two tries to win.

In both matches, Hemi Fermanis has led from the front and produced performances worthy of Player of the Match points.

In fact, Fermanis is no stranger to the Billy Wallace Best & Fairest competition, having been there or thereabouts in this competition previously.

In 2021 when Tawa last won the Jubilee Cup, he was MVP of the final and won the Jim Brown Memorial Plate award. He locked Tawa’s scrum that day with Tito Ioane who he played alongside on Saturday.

Fermanis’ brothers TJ (2016) and Ezra (2013) are also former Jubilee Cup winners and TJ was a Billy Wallace competition winner a decade ago in 2015 (shared with Wellington’s Adam Deck).

This coming Saturday Tawa have the weekend off to rest and recline, along with Hutt Old Boys Marist, while Paremata-Plimmerton are back at home to play Petone in a major elimination bout.
