Rugby coming up in August, September and October

With club rugby in 2022 winding up through the Lower North Island, there is plenty of rugby still on over the next two to three months.

There is the remainder of local college rugby competitions, heading into the Hurricanes finals and the National Top 4, which is slated to return after a three-year absence.

A feature tournament that we cover on this channel is the Hurricanes Central Region Shield U19 competition, with a New Zealand U19 team being selected soon to tour South Africa, along with representative programmes in the wider Hurricanes territory involving a number of teams at the U16s, U18s Boys and Girls and Development level.

The Wellington Centurions. Wellington Samoans and Māori teams all have a busy schedule, along with their counterparts elsewhere such as the Hawke’s Bay Saracens and the Manawatu Evergreens.

The representative season is particularly busy from the end of August to the third week of September before the rugby invasion gets called off and the sevens season gets underway in October.
