Matchday Scoring Highlights: Petone v Northern United

Petone announced their serious challenge for this year’s Swindale Shield with this big win over Northern United. Petone led 17-7 at halftime and pulled clear to win 10 tries to 3 in the second half and the final score was 62-19.

Northern United are rebuilding this year and there will be better days ahead for them, but they struck a confident Petone side on the up who if they keep playing this way with positive intent they push other teams this way. Two of Petone’s three tries in the first half were scored by fullback Jermaine Pepe and the other (the first) by school leaver wing William Davis.

The floodgates opened for them in the Porirua #2 sunshine as right wing Tom Carter scored a second half hat-trick and returning midfielder Lester Maulolo a late double.
