Club Rugby is proud to support NZ Rugby History.
Realising the importance of the histories about New Zealand rugby clubs and provinces, NZ Rugby History created a website to ensure the preservation of the records of these clubs, including those clubs that have long become defunct.
For many rugby clubs, these booklets are all that remains of the club and its history, and these booklets are becoming very scarce.
“We ensure that the history is registered and preserved. This will ensure that every club has its written records registered on our site and stored at the New Zealand Rugby Museum.
We are always looking for histories, especially to fill gaps at the New Zealand Rugby Museum. Please contact us if you have a book, programme, badge or a collection to sell.
Recently, the records of the Karori Rugby Club, long since amalgamated with Onslow and Athletic to form Western Suburbs Rugby Club, were given to me for safe keeping. These are now stored in the archives at the NZ Rugby Museum in Palmerston North.
We also welcome any contributions that visitors would like to make, whether adding to the history of a club referenced on the site or to provide memories from days past. A notes section has been included under each booklet for this purpose.
We also welcome contributions to our blog section. If you have an article or story you would like to add to our blog, contact us.
Tell us about your club, share your memories of a club that no longer exists. Let us know if you have any records or material for your club so that we can share it through our site or safe keep it so that its history is never lost.”
