The two clubs met at the Hutt Recreation Ground.
Conditions were fine, but breezy and underfoot conditions were greasy early on following a heavy shower of rain.
HOBM won 29-13. A workmanlike Eagles side outscored Wainuiomata 5 tries to 1 on the day, their set-piece on top and their lineout the direct source for three of these tries including both in the first half.
Hooker Harry Press led a strong front row, featuring BoP Hurricanes Benet Kumeroa and Vili Tauatoga (who scored a try), while others such as No. 8 Jordan Gillies also played well.
Despite this, HOBM only led 12-6 at halftime, turning into a dying wind and with a back sent to the sin-bin just before halftime. Wainuiomata second five Tyler Tane kicked two penalties.
HOBM scored first after halftime, but Wainuiomata replied with their only try of the match to try-machine Niko Paletesio. However, HOBM pulled clear with two further tries.
For Wainuiomata, first year No. 8 Brayden Soi played well, as did veteran openside Greg Lealofi and first-five Andrew Wells.
