Scoring highlights: Wellington Centurions (55) v Hawke’s Bay Saracens (19)

The two teams met at Rugby League Park, Newtown, on Saturday.

Wellington won 9 tries to 3, after leading 17-7 at halftime, in fine clear conditions.

The match was well-contested at the breakdown, but Wellington had a clear advantage up front and at scrum time. That and two separate sin-binnings to Hawke’s Bay players, allowed the gap to open up in Wellington’s favour as the second half unfolded.

Wellington scored two quickfire tries in the 48^th and 52^nd minutes to extend their halftime lead to 31-7. Hawke’s Bay made a brief comeback, but Wellington pulled away in the last 15 minutes to complete their win.

This coming weekend, the Wellington Centurions meet Tasman B in Blenheim in the final match of their 2023 campaign.
