Black Ferns celebration at Parliament

The Black Ferns edged England 34-31 in an epic Women’s Rugby Cup Final at Eden Park, Auckland, just over a month ago, a week after pipping France in an equally pulsating semi-final.

A couple of memorable club rugby moments aside (such as the McBain shield between Petone and HOBM) and the Wellington Lions doing the Ranfurly Shield/NPC double, the Black Ferns’ campaign will be remembered as the highlight of the 2022 rugby year in New Zealand.

The Black Ferns ended England’s 30-game winning streak and annexed their sixth World Cup title after wins in 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010 and 2017.

On Wednesday, the Black Ferns squad were led in tributes by the Prime Minister and other dignitaries on Parliament’s grounds as part of their nationwide thank you and congratulatory tour. Over 1,000 people came out in support.

Peter McDonald was on hand to capture the action. Some photos below, full gallery on our photos website at https://clubrugby.smugmug.com/2022/2022-Representative-Rugby/13-December-Womens-RWC-Black-Ferns-Celebration
