American Ambassador’s sevens tournament leg two on Saturday

Same place, same time.

The 2019 American Ambassador’s Sevens series is set to be decided late on Saturday afternoon at Onepoto Park, with men’s and women’s series winners to be crowned.

It will be hard to go past Northern United kicking not going on and winning the tournament and raising the American Ambassador’s Trophy silverware aloft, after taking out last week’s opening tournament.

Realistically, only runners-up Hutt Old Boys Marist and last week’s third placed finishers Ories can win, and only if Norths have a bad day.

Tomorrow’s tournament will see the inclusion of Marist St Pat’s and Petone in the Men’s draw, leaving just Paremata-Plimmerton, Avalon, Wainuiomata and the Upper Hutt Rams as non-starters this year.

The Women’s competition could be intriguing, with OBU winning the opening leg last week by beating Norths in the final. But Oriental-Rongotai have entered tomorrow, and will surely take with them Faausa Makisi and Bernadette Robertson who played for the OBU last week. it remains to be seen who else Ories plays tomorrow.

There is no Colts tournament tomorrow, and no 100kg and over tournament that was originally advertised.
