Matchday Scoring Highlights: Wellington Centurions (82) v Manawatu Evergreens (14)

The two teams met in fine, windy conditions in the second of two matches at Rugby League Park on Saturday in their annual friendly encounter.

This was a match between the two development teams of these unions, and many of the players are on the next step down from seeking NPC glory with the Lions and the Turbos.

Wellington made a swift start when Upper Hutt Rams prop Senio Sanele ran on to a pass by Ories wing Daniel Tafili and then Ories fullback Jordan Soli scored from deep after fast hands. Manawatu hit back, but the Centurions ran in three further tries to lead 35-7 at halftime.

With a strong scrum platform and several players hungry for more, the Centurions continued to lay on the tries in the Newtown sunshine. Wellington Axemen right wing Luke Kapene and Petone No. 8 Connor Tuifao would score two tries each and Petone first-five Jacob Waikari-Jones would score one and kick 11 of 12 conversion attempts.
