Matchday Scoring Highlights: Wellington Fijians (33) v Poverty Bay Māori (17)

The two sides met at Porirua Park on day two of the 2026 Te Upoko Invitational tournament.

Steady rain prior to kick-off gave way to dry conditions in the first half as the Fijians scored three tries to one in the first half and led 19-7 at halftime. The Fijians dominated the early stages of the second half but failed to score again. Poverty Bay came back and scored their second try to close the gap to 19-12 as the rain returned.

In the 60th minute a 50-22 kick set up the Fijian forwards to score their next try and extend the score to 26-12. Ten minutes later a series of penalties led to Poverty Bay scoring their third try to keep the game alive at 26-17. But the Fijians had the final say with a late converted try.
