Matchday Scoring Highlights: Paremata-Plimmerton (35) v Marist St Pat’s (25)

The two teams met at Ngati Toa Domain in fine, breezy conditions in their 2026 Hardham VC Memorial Cup semi-final.

Visitors Marist St Pat’s had won their past two encounters against Paremata-Plimmerton and a third victory on the trot would send them to the final. They kicked two penalties and Pare-Plim scored two unconverted tries, before a converted try just before halftime to No. 8 Ben Higgs put them up 13-10 at the interval.

Pare-Plim had the use of the lowering sun and the moderate breeze in the second half and they immediately set about putting it to use, playing for territory and launching an early committed assault. This paid off as they scored to go up 15-13. They would then score another three tries, including one directly off a kick-off and another off a MSP re-start error, and kick a penalty to go up 35-13.

There was still time left for a comeback, and MSP tried. But they couldn’t close the gap in scoring two late tries but running out of time.

Pare-Plim will now go on to play the Wellington Axemen in the final, at Porirua 2 at 2.45pm Saturday.
