Week two of pre-season club rugby sees another handful of matches in Wellington and plenty more around the country, including the annual New Zealand Marist Federation Spillane tournament in Hamilton.

Wellington’s Marist St Pat’s are attending the 93rd Spillane tournament and have two matches on Saturday and one more on Saturday before the final. They are playing Whangarei Marist and the host club on day one and Napier Marist first up on day two.

MSP’s Colts are also attending the tournament, with scheduled matches against Hamilton Marist and Ardmore Marist.

Hutt Old Boys Marist are Wellington’s other club that have been Spillane regulars (and winners) down the years, but they are changing course this year and travelling to Napier to meet Napier Pirate on Saturday.

In Wellington there are two more weekends of summer. Wainuiomata are in action for the second consecutive week against Paremata-Plimmerton who are stepping out for the first time in 2025. Their pre-season fixture kicks off at Mary Crowther Park at 1.00pm.

Back over the hill, the Pōneke and Petone clubs meet at North Park. The Colts kick-off at 12.00pm and the Premiers at 1.15pm.

At Mana College, the Jonsonville and Freyberg (Manawatu) mixed senior squads kick off at 1.00pm.

In town, the Marist St Pat’s and Paremata-Plimmerton women’s teams kick off at 11.00am.

In college rugby, the Rongotai College and Porirua College squads kick off at Rongotai College at 11.00am.

Most other clubs not in action tomorrow are holding internal training sessions, while OBU holds an internal trial match at Boyd Wilson Park.

On television, the Hurricanes play Moana Pasifika at North Harbour at 7.05pm. The Hurricanes Poua play South Island in Christchurch on Sunday at 12.35pm.
