The two clubs met on Rugby League Park in the sixth round of the 2024 Swindale Shield and in the battle of the cloven-hooved quadrupeds.
Old Boys University ran clear to win the fixture 48-22 in front of a busy crowd in the stand at their Newtwon enclave.
After an early feeling out period, OBU were all over the Rams like a rash, their forwards collectively climbing into their work and winning front foot ball. With a gentle, dying southerly at their backs, five-eighths Callum Harkin and Mano Manuao continuously pushed the Rams back deep inside their territory and the result was four tries and a 27-3 halftime lead.
The Rams briefly flickered and scored their first try, but the Goats pressed hard and ran in three further tries in the second half to win comfortably and move to the top of the Swindale Shield standings alongside HOBM.
