Harper Lock Shield scoring highlights: Tawa v Marist St Pat’s

The Tawa Second XV were the top team in their grade in 2022, with a 16/16 record.

They started their 2023 home season with this 43-14 win over Marist St Pat’s at home at Lyndhurst Park on Saturday.

In fine conditions, Tawa played into the moderate wind in the first half and went on to lead 26-7 at halftime in a match dominated by a high penalty count, scoring their fourth and bonus point try just before the interval. The first 20 minutes of the second half saw MSP mostly on attack and they finally broke through to score to make it 26-14.

MSP marched up field once more, but Tawa held on and the chance was lost. Tawa won the match with two tries in as many minutes, including an intercept from a lineout on halfway. They then scored again on fulltime, the most fluid try of the match, to push their score past 40 points.
