Matchday scoring highlights: Paremata-Plimmerton (15) v Petone (14)

Paremata-Plimmerton made it third time lucky, by beating Petone on the buzzer in this fixture at home at a very muddy Ngati Toa Domain.

After missing out to Tawa at the end two weeks in a row, Paremata-Plimmerton scored an 86th minute try to topple Petone and send themselves to the Jubilee Cup semi-finals, where they will play Hutt Old Boys Marist Marist at the Hutt Rec.

In a fit of desperation, Paremata-Plimmerton attacked inside the 22 for over a minute before flinging it wide to replacement right wing Mika Cooper=Finau who plunged over to score.

With several minutes to play, Petone thought they had scored the winner at the far end through replacement left wing Jacib Tainui, who had scored twice the previous week.

Earlier, there was no scoring for long periods, before Petone kicked three penalties and the Hammerheads one to give them a 9-3 lead early in the second half. Paremata-Plimmerton scored the game’s first try to take the lead for the first time, setting up a tense finish.
