Dominic Ropeti to join Moana Pasifika in 2025

Oriental-Rongotai loose forward Dominic Ropeti has been selected by Moana Pasifika for their 2026 Super Rugby squad.

All squads were named on Thursday, with most signaled well in advance and few surprises.

Ropeti’s name stands out as a leading Wellington club rugby player who will be playing Super Rugby next season. The 2025 Swindale Shield winner will join the Moana Pasifika squad for pre-season training soon, along with another Ories player Julian Savea and alongside Norths first-five Jackson Garden-Bachop. Ardie Savea is heading to Japan, so Ropeti takes his place in a roundabout way.

Ropeti played all 10 matches in the Wellington Lions’ ill-fated NPC campaign in 2025, and has played in 30 games overall for his home province.

In 2023 Ropeti won the Player of the Final award in helping his Ories team win the Jubilee Cup. They beat Paremata-Plimmerton in the final. A story after that win is in the link below:
